...Why I am Late for English Class Hastily, I dashed through the door of my English class trying to avoid the mandatory three deduction points for being late, however my watch displayed 6:05 pm. Out of breath, I tried to sneak into my chair as if I had not been late at all, then I heard Mr. Foster firmly ask, “Ms. Sanders, why could you not arrive on time today?” “If I can be here at 7:45 am, work ten hours, and manage to arrive here on time, so can you.” I responded to him by saying, “If you were doing what I have been doing for the past 12 hours, you would be late too!” He eagerly asked, “What was so important that took precedence over your English class this evening?” “You better believe, I have heard all the excuses in the world, nothing will surprise me…proceed.” Well, it all started about 6:00 o’clock this morning. What I thought was my alarm clock rudely resurrecting me from what I describe, as the deepest and most relaxing sleep of my life, was actually the fire alarm in my apartment complex! Student coming late to L5 class
One of the reasons that makes students come late to L5 class is they don’t recognize how their tardiness affects other students. To explain, a student who arrives late in class, will interrupt their classmates’ concentration while the teacher are teaching, thus not only you miss the lesson at the start of class but also fellows and teacher will become annoyed and have a bad impression on you. For example, in Derek’s class, when the teacher already finished checking the homework, some students went late and he started to arrange the seat and check the homework their homework. As a result, it would bother teacher and waste others’ study time in class.
Another main reason is that students see no consequence of tardiness. This means at the beginning of the class, teachers usually have some extra activities to practice the lesson that students have learned on previous day, so they think they are good enough and it is necessary to be in class on time and no one will punish them. For instance, some students arrived late in class and they didn’t get a scolding because they have paid the money for privilege to be treated as customers or teachers are too easy on them . Consequently, it became their habit and they continue to late for school everyday.
One of the solutions to being late in class is improve students’ awareness. It means teachers have to make students realise how important punctuality is and show them the results of tardiness are negative, which can influence badly to their score at the end of the course. For example, teachers can start the course on time and teach useful lessons at the start of class or give some benefits for students who are on time, so students must be in class on time and they shouldn’t waste a few minutes of class, otherwise they will miss the education.
Another way to solve this problem is record students’ attendance. With the information from record, teachers can have a visual representations of...
